The Role

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Localization leader, well versed in setting up processes and understanding the latest localization technologies, with expertise in language quality, process improvement, and vendor management.  As the Localization leader, you and your team will continue to improve the quality of SurveyMonkey localization and expand localization scope to new countries and languages. You will use good judgment and critical analytical skills to evaluate localization opportunities, balance priorities, and make tradeoff decisions. In addition you will champion process changes to improve team efficiency and localization quality. You are passionate about localization and obsessed with improving the SurveyMonkey experience for non-English speaking customers.

Responsibilities:

-Define and drive SurveyMonkey’s localization strategy to support localization for critical SurveyMonkey assets, including websites, documentation, email content, marketing material, software, multimedia, etc.
-Lead a cross-functional localization team including product, engineering, QA, and customer operations
-Drive Internationalization best practices with upstream engineering and content teams
-Manage localization budget, from planning and forecasting through final invoicing
-Drive prioritization of multiple, simultaneous localization projects, to ensure the team delivers the highest yield on effort
-Manage relationships with SurveyMonkey’s teams around the globe to understand and prioritize localization needs
-Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with LSPs and other external vendors
-Manage and oversee the localization budget for your projects and use data to evaluate the efficiency of cost, timeliness, and quality.
-Help core product teams, designers, and engineers to recognize international requirements and integrate coding world-ready processes to be able to create a culturally and linguistically appropriate product.
-Provide up-to-date visibility and communication for large projects, as well as progress for team goals.

Qualifications:

-8+ years experience in SaaS, e-commerce, or consumer web businesses
-10+ years experience in localization program management working on language launches, creative content
-Proven experience managing high quality, high volume localization projects
-Ability to successfully communicate and influence executives, technical, and business teams in a cross functional environment
-Ability to think big and drive localization strategy, while diving deep into tactical details to execute tasks
-Ability to lead large scale technical, and cross functional programs to delivery
-Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
-Demonstrated experience optimizing web businesses with analytics tools like Google Analytics
-Prior experience in production or program management at senior levels
-Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS), document management systems and software repository and build systems
-Evangelize Globalization to all cross functional stakeholders
-Solid in-depth knowledge of internationalization and localization is a plus
-Working knowledge of industry standard localization tools

Preferred Qualifications:

-Deep understanding of localization processes and technologies such as TM recycling, terminology management, machine translation, etc.
-Experience hiring, managing, and promoting localization professionals across a variety of functions, including project managers, loc engineers, testers, linguists, etc.
-Experience working in Agile development environments
-BA or BS in engineering, applied linguistics, computer science or equivalent experience
